Like every other person, I have my own rules and personal opinions about role playing. Here are just a few to give you an idea of what I can and cannot tolerate.
▪ Mun consent. I’d appreciate it if ideas were run by me first. ▪ Celeb/PB/AU. I prefer PB. However, I won’t knock the ideas of trying Celeb and AU lines. ▪ IM/Thread/E-mail: I mostly play through IMs, but whenever I get busy with real life matters, I’ll definitely be able to play through threads or e-mails! ▪ Drama. It keeps things interesting because let’s face it, anything cliché or fluffy can get boring real quick. ▪ Cross Role Playing. Keep IC and OOC issues separate. ▪ Creativity and Diversity. I like to play an array of characters, and it’s mostly to keep things fresh and interesting. I’ve seen way too many characters who seem to be carbon copies. ▪ Storylines. I’m open to playing out new storylines, especially those with an actual plot. I love to play friends, family, enemies, “frienemies,” romance, co-workers, and just about any other kind of storyline you can think of. Just remember that not ALL storylines have to end with the characters getting married and popping out babies. Use your imagination! ▪ Adult Scenes. Will I play these scenes out? Yes. Do I have my limits? Yes. I DO NOT want a storyline that’s purely based on smut. We all know what happens, and I do not mind skipping through adult scenes, especially if it will help move the scene along. ▪ Het/Slash/Femme: I do primarily Het, but have no problem with Femme. ▪ Originality. Once again, this is role playing, and it is just common sense for people to utilize their creativity and come up with their own characters and not steal ideas from others. As some people may find it flattering for someone to take bits and pieces here and there, but to take every little detail and story and to call it your own, is just uncalled for and a bit depressing if you ask me. The reason I brought this up is because recently, I’ve found out that someone has stolen all of my ideas for one of my characters (from the bio to the first entry). It’s frustrating to put so much work into a character to build them up, only to have someone copy everything verbatim and claim it as their own. I know this all speaks for itself, but the only other thing that I have to say in regards to this is: If you can’t write, nor come up with your own character ideas, DON’T ROLEPLAY.
